The ice was absolutely amazing. It was obviously very cold but we had such a great time. We had a great fire, great company, and nice warm food that helped keep us warm. Max and I slept in the car, and despite the ice crystals that formed all over the inside of the windows we stayed amazingly warm. It helped to have my huge down comforter.

I'm so glad we went. I needed my nature fix. There is nothing like spending all day out in God's beautiful world.

Max and I went back to Opryland Hotel this past sunday night with my parents. They had never been to the hotel at christmas time and enjoyed seeing all the lights. Max and I were excited because we wanted to take a picture by this snowman. This is where we have our first photo together with a group of friends about a year ago. :)

We enjoyed going to the Opryland Hotel last sat. night. :) It was so much fun going back again. It was about a year ago that we went to Opryland and hung out together realizing we both were kinda interested in each other. :) Fun memories!

On Sabbath Max and I went for a walk near Percy Priest Lake. The colors aren't quite at their peak yet, but were extremely beautiful. Max enjoyed playing around with a couple filters on the camera. I LOVE the pictures he took. :)

Okay. The way I uploaded my picture they are not in order. Oh well. Here is Carissa coming to the finish line. I did a triathlon this past weekend. I was very excited because one of my goals in life is to do a triathlon. Now I have been part of a team. We did very well. Out of 11 all girls teams we came in 4th. We were very proud and yet a little sad because when we saw the scores we were only 39 seconds from the 3rd place finishers. We could have had a trophy. That's okay, my trophy was the accomplishment. What a fun race.

Yeah! Success!!!! I did the half mile in 14min. 47 sec. I was hoping for under 15min. but I actually thought I would do it in about 17 min. :)

I bought a new dinning room table. I love it. If we get two more chairs it can seat eight people. I'm really excited about fall as well so I got a nice little fall center piece. :)

Last Sat. night a group of us went to the Fair. We had a great time.
Andrew and Luis were super excited about eating funnel cakes. Apparently so is Carissa. :) Luis isn't in the picture. Umm! My camera was having issues. This is Nicole, Andrew, and Carissa.

I was excited about the corn. It took us awhile to find it but we finally did and I was so happy.

This past Sabbath Max and I went hiking at Rock Island State park. It's absolutely gorgeous. We had a splendid time. Max takes such great waterfall pictures. :)

My parents came and helped me in my classroom a couple of weeks ago. I was so thankful. They helped me with the shelves in the front and back of the room. I love my classroom this year. So far the kids have been great too. :)

This past sabbath we took a bunch of friends out to the waterfall we went to last weekend. It's so much fun. We had a great time with everyone. Max set up his camera and we had a great time taking photos. I'll add more when I get the pictures from his camera. I was so bummed because these pictures are from my camera. I put my camera in Max's camera case to "Keep it safe" and apparently it got smashed or something. The screen is all cracked. Not real cracks, cracks internally so you can't even see the screen. It's so sad. Oh well. That's definitely how life goes.

I leave today for teachers meetings at Indian Creek Camp. I know it will be fun but we always stress out about it as well because school starts just a few days after we get back. We would LOVE to be spending those last few days in our classrooms. BUT I'm sure I will get to go water skiing early in the morning at camp and that makes up for it. :)

Cracker Barrel

Last week my parents spend the week with me. We had such a wonderful time together. They came and helped me in my classroom which was much appreciated. The work we did was equal to about 4 days of me working by myself. :) On Friday morning we meet our friends Jim and Janie Simon at Cracker Barrel. It was so good to see them. Janie is an old family friend. When she was in high school she used to pretend I was her little girl. It was so good to see them. We hadn't seen each other for years, but have keep in touch. Love you Janie. Thanks for stopping by.

Last Friday night (July 25th) Max came to my house about an hour before bible study started. He came in with a dozen red roses. I looked over at my coffee table and there was a box. It was a big box with build a bear written on it. I thought "oh how very fun, Max made me a teddy bear". He told me he made a bear for me that was named Max and dressed like him to remind me of him. When I pulled him out he had a little sticker on his right paw that said press here. I did and heard, "Laura I love you very much, Will you marry me?" I threw my arms around his neck and gave him a big kiss and said YES!(Max's neck, not the bear's. Hehe) Then he told me to look in the bear's pocket. I pulled out a ribbon that had my ring attached to it. I had him put it on and he got on one knee and slid it on my finger. I LOVED it! We tried to call our families which we couldn't get a hold of right away, took a few pictures, and then our friends started arriving for bible study. I loved it because I was able to share my joy with my friends. :)
The whole weekend was perfect. On sabbath we went out to a waterfall and took pictures. The waterfall was so much fun because it had grassy moss all over it so you could climb without feeling like you are going to slip in. Later that night we meet friends at at coffee shop and played games. On Sunday we went to Holiday World in Santa Clause Indiana.(water park & amusement park) It was so much fun! Then that night my parents came for a visit. What a perfect weekend.

One of the highlights of this summer was taking Max to my parents house. They have been in Thailand for the past year with Ryan, Laura and girls. Ryan and his family were also back for the summer and were able to join us on the Ashlock Farm. It's always so peaceful out at my parents place. We had a terrific time. We took a trip up to a bald (a mountain top with no trees) and Max got to fly his glider for my family which we all loved. Good times with good people.

Last night we went out for Mexican food to say farewell to Josh. He is leaving this weekend for a 4 month adventure. He is taking classes at the Amazing Facts school. Good luck Josh! We will miss you. We also were celebrating the June/July b-days. Happy Birthday to Melinda, Nicole, Eirik, and Paul.

Today we had a baby shower for Jessica. It was so much fun. I loved just hanging out with the girls and taking pictures.

This afternoon Max and I cut down the dead tree in front of my house. It was quit the adventure. The biggest problem was that it was pretty close to my neighbors house. We didn't want a branch to fall and break a window, etc. Max did a magnificent job. He was about half way done, and like I said doing a fine job when a neighbor of mine (Troy) came over with his family. They helped us. He cut trees for a living for about 10 years, and had the rest of the tree down in a jiffy.

Max and I are WORN out, but I'm super glad the tree is finally down.

Skiing on Old Hickory Lake

Closser took Max and I skiing a couple weeks ago, I felt like summer had finally arrived. Oh what a glorious feeling. We had such a great time. I got to ski and wake board. Max brought his wake surfer and tried it out. He did a great job for his first time.
